Avoiding thoughts of leaving Lyle, Simone took Brynn to Rafael Vega’s sculpture exhibit, unconcerned about Brynn’s usual flock of admirers.

Until Brynn’s ex, Kenzy McClellan, arrived. Barraged by assumptions of Brynn’s eligibility, Simone felt tense and unable to be herself.

Luckily, a concerned Brynn quickly came up with a plan to relieve Simone’s anxiety... and pulled her into the Ladies Powder Room.

Meanwhile, Meta was touched by blind sculptor, Rafael Vega, as part of his controversial method to select his next muse.

EPISODE 213 - DEEP STUDY

The crowd is quiet, all eyes are on T.J., who stands at the front of the gallery, holding a microphone. Rafael sits nearby on his stool.

*into mic* Okay, and now for the moment everyone’s been waiting for...

At the packed bar, Brynn stands behind Simone, who happily sips champagne, seeing Kenzy lost in the crowd.

*chugs her cocktail* You guys sooo missed out, the grope-fest with that Rafael guy was a fugging out of body experience.

Brynn stares ahead... but slips her hands around Simone’s waist and pulls her closer. Simone feels warm all over.

Mr. Vega has selected the subject of his next work...

I wonder if he’s on Facebook.

@pandpmeta Maybe he’ll pick you? You never know.

@pandpSimone *sighs* Nah, I’m sure he’s lookin’ for at least a D student. My boob grades are too high... B plushes on a good day.

And the name is... *double take* Hang on...

T.J. whispers to Rafael, who nods. T.J. shakes his head, laughing.

This is crazy, I... okay, folks, I swear, this wasn’t rigged... the subject of Rafael’s next work is my very own sister... Meta Randolph!

Brynn claps, Simone hugs Meta who nearly spills her drink.

@pandpmeta Meta! Oh, congratulations!

@pandpSimone I think I’m going to puke.

Simone and Brynn both look horrified and brace themselves.

*guffaws* I’m kidding, you guys! But can you believe it? I’m gonna be a fuggin’ muse!

That night, in the Logan Manor driveway, Simone pulls in and turns off the car.

@pandpBrynn It was such a wonderful night... thanks to you. *sighs* I don’t want it to end.

@pandpSimone Jace is inside so we... *smiles* You want to come in for a coffee or something?

In the Logan kitchen, Simone sits at the table, amused as she watches Brynn scurry around in her floor-length dress making coffee.

@pandpBrynn Not many people could pull off doing that in an evening gown.

Brynn laughs, grabs a bottle of Vanilla Coffeemate from the fridge. Simone gasps.

@pandpBrynn Please tell me you don’t use that dreadful flavored creamer!

@pandpSimone I like it! I have Half & Half for you.

@pandpBrynn Just so you know, I will NOT have that ghastly stuff in my home.

@pandpSimone You’d deprive me of something I enjoy so much?

Brynn walks back to the table and sets down the coffees. She looks down at Simone, seductively. Simone frowns.

@pandpBrynn It’s going to be exhausting never being able to say no to you.

@pandpSimone Then I’ll have to make it up to you.

@pandpBrynn *murmurs* Yes, you will...

We hear footsteps down the stairs. Simone bolts upright. Brynn calmly pours coffee. Jace passes the entry to the kitchen.

@pandpSimone Oh. Hey, Simone.

Beat. Jace passes back by the other way carrying a folded newspaper.

@pandpBrynn Whatever’s going on is totally weird. That’s all I’m gonna say.

Jace walks back up the stairs. Brynn laughs and sits.

@pandpSimone He’s right. It is totally weird.

@pandpBrynn I know, but I don’t seem to care.

They both sip coffee. Simone notices that while her cup is perfect, Brynn’s cup is chipped.

@pandpSimone I’ve missed our mornings together.

@pandpBrynn I despise mornings now. I’m an absolute terror to anyone in my path!

@pandpSimone *laughs* I’ve been meaning to tell you, I got my old job back at the nursing home.

@pandpSimone They could only give me part time. I’ll have to get something else too, but it’s a start.

Simone sets down her cup, annoyed.

@pandpBrynn I can’t bear you working two jobs.

@pandpSimone I don’t mind.

@pandpBrynn You went to the best schools, Brynn. You came from such wealth, you’re worth so much more...

Simone looks around the kitchen, taking in outdated appliances, cracked tiles, dishes stacked neatly by the sink to dry. Her anger rises.

@pandpBrynn Do you even have a dishwasher?!

@pandpSimone *laughs* It broke.

@pandpBrynn It’s just all so unacceptable!

Brynn puts her hand over Simone’s and smiles.

@pandpSimone I accepted it a long time ago, Simone.

Simone looks down, her heart aching for Brynn.

@pandpBrynn What was it like losing everything? After having so much?

@pandpSimone I’m used to it now. The first years were hard on us.

@pandpBrynn Your father. Patrick Logan.

@pandpSimone *nods* Especially him.

@pandpBrynn What... happened to him? I just want to understand, we don’t talk about it in my family. Did he flee?

Brynn is silent for a beat. Then answers without emotion.

@pandpSimone He shot himself the day he lost the company. Here. In his study.

Simone looks away in shock.

@pandpBrynn Oh, Brynn... that’s just awful. You were so young... to hear such a thing...

@pandpSimone Actually, he did it in front of me. I was bringing him lunch…

Simone wells up, speechless. Overwhelmed by the idea of her family causing such horrific pain to Brynn. Finally...

@pandpBrynn *quietly* I would apologize on behalf of the family but I know that would mean nothing...

Brynn looks Simone in the eyes, serious.

@pandpSimone It was a long time ago. I’ve made peace with it. It’s not yours to take it on. I don’t want you to. Okay?

Later, Simone pulls her car out the gate of Logan Manor. Beat. Down the road a pair of HEADLIGHTS flick on.

The mysterious car pulls onto the road... and follows Simone’s Lexus.

At the Randolph House, Simone enters the dark foyer of still haunted by Brynn’s confession. Relieved to find it empty.

She tiptoes up the stairs to the dark bedroom. She scans the bed. Empty. She flicks on the light. Behind her, Lyle stands in the doorway.

@pandpSimone Late again?

@pandplyle *jumps* Please, stop scaring me like that! The time escaped me.

@pandpSimone T.J. said you left over two hours ago.

Simone doesn’t answer. Instead, she busies herself getting ready for bed.

@pandpSimone He said you left with Brynn.

@pandplyle We had a coffee after.

Simone grabs her pillow, tries to pass. Lyle blocks the door.

@pandplyle Please move.

@pandpSimone You’re not sleeping in the guest bedroom again.

@pandplyle *angry* I’ll sleep where I please. MOVE.

Lyle does and follows Simone to a guest bedroom at the far end of the hall. She throws her pillow on the bed.

@pandpSimone *exasperated* What is happening to us, Simone?!

They glare at each other. Beat. Simone takes a deep breath.

@pandplyle You have a right to be upset. We need to talk, but it’s so late and I’m exhausted. Tomorrow...

@pandpSimone NOT TOMORROW. NOW!

@pandplyle *harsh whisper* Keep your voice down. You’ll wake Max!

@pandpSimone He’s a bright kid, I’m sure he knows we haven’t been right for a while.

@pandplyle So have you, but you’ve managed to ignore it.

@pandpSimone I thought it would work itself out.

@pandplyle You thought I’d work myself out. You changed nothing.

@pandpSimone You know I’ve been spending every waking hour dealing with the business and those fucking Logans...

The mention of Logans flips a switch in Simone. She strains to keep her voice down.

@pandplyle This is NOT ABOUT the LOGANS! This is about YOU and ME.

@pandpSimone But that’s why I’ve been so busy! Maybe you felt neglected, maybe I haven’t given you enough.

@pandpSimone I thought you understood! I’m protecting us.

@pandplyle *laughs* But Lyle, what if there is NO US LEFT to protect?

Lyle stares, the air knocked out of him.

@pandpSimone It’s her, isn’t it?

Lyle cries softly into Simone’s shoulder. Finally, he lifts his head.

In Kenzy McClellan’s townhouse...

Kenzy leaps up. Her body certainly justifies walking across the room naked. In the bathroom, she turns on the shower.

@pandpkenzy I thought you didn’t have to go into the studio today?

@pandpAnna I have a lunch date.

@pandpkenzy With who?

At the law offices of Danton, Golder & Hargrove...

@pandpSimone A no-fault divorce is an option, but better to have grounds. Any verbal or physical abuse?

@pandpXander No, no...

@pandpSimone Neglect? Adultery?

Xander waits. Simone steels herself.

@pandpXander I... I’ve met someone else.

And later, we FLASHBACK to Brynn & Kenzy’s dorm room at Westover...

@pandpBrynn *whispers* Are you awake?

Brynn is silent.

@pandpBrynn Brynn?

@pandpkenzy What.
